To everyone with windows 7 problems or GG issues

Everyone with windows 7 32bit is not going to be able to play shaiya. GameGaurd (GG) Isn't yet compatable and isn't going to be unless a solution is found. All people with windows 64bit can thou but the tread was deleted because it was in violation of the ToS soo All i can say is upgrade to a dual boost or downgrade to a diffrent OS

The most common things that cause errors in GameGuard (GG) are;

1 Firewalls not being properly configured to allow Shaiya and it's associated applications through.

2 Anti-virus or Anti-spyware programs, are intrusive by nature, and GameGuard is designed to prevent things from being Intrusive towards the game it's protecting. You may be able to configure the programs to avoid Shaiya, but people have suggested that only uninstalling will allow GameGuard to successfully run.

3 Add the dump_wmimmc.sys file in your GameGuard sub-folder from your Shaiya install folder, to the Anti-Virus Exception list.

I'm sorry, but this is BS, I wouldn't listen to it. if you are having issues with GameGuard on 64-bit Windows 7, get on Google do a search for 'Windows 7 GameGuard Fix' and the first couple of links will give you a fix.
It may be a violation of the ToS, but:

1) The GMs have no way to tell that you're replacing the GameGuard.des file for the newer updated one provided by INCA. You CAN'T get in trouble for doing it unless you like specifically announce you're using it Smile

2) If you read the AeriaGames EULA it says:

b. No Modification. You may not modify, adapt, translate or create derivative works based upon the Software. You may not reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble or otherwise attempt to discover the source code of the Software except to the extent you may be expressly permitted to decompile under applicable law, only if it is essential to do so in order to achieve operability of the Software with another software program, and you have first requested Licensor to provide the information necessary to achieve such operability and Licensor has not made such information available.

We have requested for AEG to provide support to Windows 7 users and they have not provided the information necessary. Smile

Thank you for your time Wink

So basically

  1. Send in a ticket asking for "How to get Shaiya working with Windows7?".
  2. If they redirect to forums, tell them there is no fix on forums. If they say otherwise ask for the link.
  3. If they fail to provide a link, then you are free to "engineer, decompile, disassemble" the game "to achieve operability of the Software with another software program" (aka Windows 7)
  4. For dual boot you need to own license of XP or Vista. If you don't, then shell out $150 for outdated software. Hence it's not a solution.

Am I right or dreaming?
If it's right I am sending in a ticket now! since I use Win7, 32bit version.

There are ways to get 32 to run if you "engineer, decompile, disassemble" the game Wink

If you request from AEG a solution for 32 - bit, and they don't provide, have a ball (this is my understanding from the EULA atleast)
Again, reminder, GameGuard is the issue... without it, the game will run on all windows Operating systems, no issue Smile

There are solutions to every Windows7 problem related to GameGuard, including 32-bit.

If you are free to "enginner, decompile, dissassemble" the files. Then you can do much more than just replacing the GG files.

That's what makes me think, I am wrong somewhere.

We don't want to get this thread deleted as well, so please keep your replies as generic as possible.

The official word from AGE is that bypassing GG is forbidden and any post that advocates it will more than likely be deleted.

Can you get notify a GM, to notify their higher-ups to change the EULA.

Because I don't see any stickied thread from a GM saying that removing GG is illegal.
Yes, if i use common sense then it seems that removing GG would be illegal.

However if I read the rules(EULA), they state otherwise.
And EULA is the only visible set rules we have, unlike the GM ruling with no head or tail.

So, please either

1. Get them to change EULA.

OR

1. Get them to make a GM rulings post.

Because it's needs to be visible to all the users.
Else how would a non-forum troll would ever know about it.

Thanks.

Generic Reply
Shaiya does not work with Windows7, so stop asking questions.
Wait for sonoV to remove it from Shaiya-US.
See you next year or year after that.

Thanks.
